As her twenty-year-old secret comes to light, Dr. Nancy St. John’s emotions, usually tightly controlled, break free and send her on a roller coaster of joy, sorrow—and hope
Hope Warner is the daughter she was forced to give up for adoption, and her appearance in Nancy’s life is an answer to unspoken prayers. Or is it? Hope has a secret, too. She needs a bone marrow transplant to give her a chance at beating the leukemia ravaging her body. If her birth mother cannot or will not, does she have a prayer?
Sweet Charity takes us on a journey back in time, sharing scenes of 1958 and the late 1970s, when teen pregnancy brought huge shame to families, and the young mothers were often forced to give up their babies. This story touched my heart with its deeply personal drama, and the plot twists kept me turning the pages. Faith plays an important role in this story as Nancy struggles to trust and forgive.
I love this story and award it five stars. Disclaimer: as one of the author’s critique partners, I was privileged to read this story as it was written. Recommended.
