The tagline for my Facebook author page (https://www.facebook.com/kathleenefriesen) is “Writer and Timid Warrior.” There’s a good reason for the second part: Fear has always been a big part of my life. I’m not proud of it, but it’s the truth. Sometimes I wonder how much of God’s grand adventure I've missed because I allowed fear to rule me.
So when I sensed the Holy Spirit speaking to my soul, Do not let fear keep you from obeying God’s voice, my immediate response was a nervous Why? What was He going to ask of me?
See how that worked? God tells me to be fearless and I respond in fearfulness. Where’s the Warrior part of this Timid Warrior?
I claim to be--want to be—a woman of faith, an overcomer, in spite of my innate apprehension. I desire with all my heart to courageously follow God’s voice. But it may be that the only way I can do this is to fling myself into His arms and allow Him to overcome my fears as He leads me by the hand.
Here I am, Lord Jesus. Take my hand and lead me through my fear into Your glorious plan, whatever it involves. I know that You are good and what You do is good.
Let the adventure begin!
